Anderson led Division II
in rushing with a 194.5 yard average per game, picking up 2,140
yards on 321 carries and scoring 27 touchdowns. He also
led Division II in scoring with 15.3 points per game on 28
touchdowns in 11 games. He finished second in Division II
in all-purpose yardage with 209.7 yards per game, including 167
receiving yards. He broke of shared five NCAA records and
owns 13 Truman State and 12 Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic
Association rushing and scoring records. Anderson broke
the MIAA and Truman 36-year old career rushing record and ranked
third among Division II career rushers. He is also third
among all-division career runners. He tied the NCAA
Division II record for seasons with 1,000 yards rushing with
four. He also broke the Truman and MIAA career rushing
attempts record, and set the MIAA and Truman records for career
games with 100 yards or more rushing (30 in 43 games).
Anderson broke the MIAA and Truman records for rushing
touchdowns in a game with six against Emporia State, and tied
the MIAA mark for touchdowns scored in a game. He had a
career high 306 yards rushing in a game and averaged an NCAA
record 194.5 yards per game for 1996. He averaged 143.4
for his career, which is sixth among career Division II leaders.
He is second in Truman career total offense and fifth in the
MIAA, the only non-quarterback on both lists. He finished
second in Division II career scoring leader, and sixth in
Division II career all-purpose yards. He is first in MIAA
career scoring with 440 points. He had five 200-yard games
in 1996, and seven in his career. He never missed a game
during his career at Truman State. Anderson was a
five-time MIAA Player of the Week in 1996. He received 207
points in the Hill Trophy voting, the second highest point total
in the award's history. Anderson garnered 42 first place
votes, outdistancing Valdosta State's Lance Funderburk by 46
points. He received votes on a record 92 of the 105
ballots cast. |
