2002 Highlights: Gales was named Gulf South Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.  He leads the nation in receptions with 67.  He is the only player in UWA history to return two punts for touchdowns in the same season (41 against Delta State and 67 against West Georgia).  He lead the team in all purpose yards with 1,237.  He leads the GSC in all-purpose yards.  He is third in the GSC in punt return average and third in reception yards per game.

2002 Key Stats: He has 67 receptions for 675 yards and 3 touchdowns.  He has 18 punt returns for 247 yards and 2 touchdowns.  He has 3 rushes for 28 yards with a long of 32.  He totals 17 kickoff returns for 287 yards with a long of 32.  

Career Awards and Accomplishments: He was named Gulf South Conference Special Teams Player of the Week twice and 4th in school history with 110 catches.  He is 6th in school history with 1,185 reception yards.  He is 5th in school history in punt return yards (449).  He is the only player in school history to return 3 punts for touchdowns.  He won the team's Red Watkins Award for Desire, Dedication and Sportsmanship in 2001.  He is well on pace to break the UWA single-season reception record of 88 set in 1993.
